There’s an expression in the retail world: “vote with your dollars”.  Essentially people buy what they like.  Online it’s different.  Content is free and in order to make a living, writers are forced to monetize their site. It’s a fancy word for a very ugly effect: big banner ads, ads inserted into articles, content written for sleazy SEO keywords or worse pay per post.  Someone is voting with their dollars but it’s not you.  It’s online companies trying to divert you from this site to theirs, so they can make a few bucks.

I’m not anti-advertising and probably neither are you.  But I’d like to propose a different way.

If you like this site, vote for it.  Send in a donation and keep it going.  It could be as little as $1 dollar or as generous as you’d like to be.

If you found something especially helpful on this site, pay me what it’s worth for you.

If you have made a big life change (like traveling the world) or are inspired to do so, because of this site– let me know, by buying me coffee.

How much is your vote worth?
