I did it. I pressed that scary little green button on Kickstarter. Holy f*cking lemon balls sh*t.
What the hell where we thinking? A two-year documentary project that went all the way around the world, just Drew and I (and the baby), shooting footage and interviewing people? And now, we’re editing it, just, you know, fire up that Final Cut Pro — which I learned somehow, along the way, back from the early days in 2010 when we couldn’t figure out how to even pull our video off the camcorder tapes. And today, we’re starting to raise the money for that last stretch, the costs of finishing this film, from music licensing (more expensive than you’d think), to creating actual film (very expensive), to all those festival application fees and sundry costs. We figure, a seven city tour plus all those last production costs will cost us $35,000 easily, even if we sleep on people’s couches and fly the cheapest flights (which we will totally do).
But the big thing, the crazy, stupid part, is this: you guys said we could do it! So we believed you. I don’t know who’s crazier, you guys or us. In the end, you were right. We just did it – with grit, spit, and a whole lotta duct tape. I think it’s going to be an awesome film. I don’t even know how we got here, but we did. So thank you. Actually, let me thank you in person. Let’s save that for later. Because we’re coming to seven US cities in 2013, and maybe more if you guys want.
On our Kickstarter page, you can get VIP tickets for:
- San Francisco
- Los Angeles
- New York City
It’s limited to 20 per city, so don’t wait too long to decide! There’s also the film on HD digital download, the DVD (signed by us!), our “Have Internet, Will Travel” tee, dinner with us (and three of your friends), a chance to bring us to your city, and even Executive Producer credit with an invitation to the World Premiere. You can check it all out here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/almostfearless/the-wireless-generation
And now, our trailer for Kickstarter (or watch here):
So go, be awesome, help us out, and ‘like’ our Kickstarter page, share it with your friends, make a pledge of any amount, give us a shout out in the comments, tell us ideas for other rewards (we’ll definitely add any good ideas you guys come up with!) and cheer us on as we battle to make our $35,000 goal by August 29th, 2013. If we don’t make EVERY SINGLE PENNY of that goal, we don’t get anything and no one’s credit card is charged. Yup. We’re doing this. Wish us luck!
