3,043 Miles in 28 Photos

I’ve been so busy writing about how to travel, there haven’t had any posts recently about my travels.  Over the past few months we’ve been camping, driving and working our way across the US, through British Columbia, into the Yukon and finally Alaska.  This post covers the US leg of the trip from Northampton, MA to Port Angeles, WA.  My favorite places were driving through North Dakota and Montana and later the islands off of Washington state.  I won’t go into too much detail about the road trip, it’s an easy one to recreate, but here’s a little peek at our life on the road.

  3. The picture of the long, straight dirt road is spectacular. It looks like a postcard.

And, of course, I love any picture with a dog in it. :)

  5. Love your on-the-road photos! This summer, we camped constantly and the one image that sticks in my mind is the “Bear in Area” sign I seemed to see everywhere.

  7. What an adventure! I especially like the second last photo. I wonder what lake that is. And the last shot of your dogs makes me smile. They look very comfortable in that tent.

  9. Oh my God, these are beautiful! I never think that traveling the U.S. can be as rewarding as traveling abroad (native bias, I guess), but these made me think twice.

We start our journey March 2011!

It cant get here quick enough!

  15. Did you ever take photography classes or did you just take it up as a hobby indepedently?
I bought a Nikon D40 about a year and a half ago and tried to learn the craft through classes but I was always too busy and didn’t enjoy the learning methodology as much as just picking up the camera and going to take pictures.
Are you a fan of photoshop? Something I haven’t experimented with much either.

  16. Carolina,

No classes, just books. The best thing I’ve found is just learning your own camera. Go through the manual and see what’s what.

Thanks re the dogs. I’m pretty sure they think so too.

    :)

  17. You have a great blog and I love the photos of your recent travels. They are beautiful! I’m wondering how you have all the camping gear. Do you store it when you’re not camping? Or do you always travel with camping gear?

  18. Great shots! I’m jealous of all the roadtrip shots. Maybe next summer I’ll finally do that across the US roadtrip! Love the road shot, especially.
